When Tracfone announced their new Android Smartphones to their lineup on handsets, one of the complaints was that there was not an easy way to check your balance without going to the Tracfone website.
That problem appears to have been solved with the new app available through the Google Play Store.
Downloading the app is quick and easy. When you open app it will automatically pull your account information with minutes, data and text remaining as well as your service date.
This is a welcome addition for all Tracfone Smartphone Customers.
As we previously spoke about, Tracfone now has Android Phones available and are beginning to show up in many retail stores in addition to Tracfone's Website.
The price at all locations that I've seen it at is $99.99. There is one option that appears to be a better value than purchasing it direct from Tracfone or your local retailers.
HSN, which officially launched the Android lineup for Tracfone in September with the Samsung Galaxy Centura now also offers the ZTE Valet. Though unsure how long the sale is on for they are offering the ZTE Valet for $99.99 which also include 600 Minutes, 600 Texts and 600 MB of data plus a car charger. They also let you pay over 3 months ($33.33 a month as of 10/19/13).
The HSN site says their regular price is $149.99 which is still a good price considering it comes with the air time, charger and lets you spread out the payments.
TRACFONE PROMO CODES NOT VALID FOR ANDROID PHONES.
If you purchased one of the recently launched android smartphones for Tracfone and tried to add minute cards that include a promo code you likely got a surprise when you went to check out.
This is the message you get from the Tracfone website.
Tired of high cell phone bills?
Here are some simple ways to reduce your cell phone bills.
1.) Switch to Prepaid - Of Course we suggest switching to a prepaid plan. This is the single biggest thing you can do to reduce your overall costs. It does not make sense any longer to sign up for contract phone service. In the past this was one of the only ways to get quality phones. This is no longer the case. Many of the larger prepaid services offer unlimited calling, texts and data if you need to "take your office on the road".
2.) Ditch your home phone - Consider getting rid of your landline phone (if you still have one). More and more people are realizing this is an expense you don't need to have with the wide use of mobile phones.
3.) Skype - Register for a FREE Skype account and make calls for FREE! That's right you can make free calls to other Skype members from your computer, phone or even your tablet. As long as you have access to Wi-Fi you can instantly connect with family, friends or business associates from across town or around the world! You can even see who your calling with free video calling. If you are a Kindle Fire owner you can download the free Skype app to make calls and video calls right from your Kindle Fire! This is one of my favorite ways to stay in touch with family...If you own a Kindle Fire...give it a try, I think you'll love it!
4.) Google Voice - Like we posted previously, Google Voice has a lot of great features when you want to keep your cell phone number private and want to really take control of your calls and messages. One thing is, you must have a Gmail account to use Google Voice. See more information on Google Voice.
5.) Consider a "Minute Only Plan" - If you aren't a big talker, why pay for a plan each and every month? If you only use your phone occasionally or for emergencies, consider switching to a plan such as Tracfone. The "cost per minute" is higher but the savings over the course of a year can be several hundred dollars. With many of their plans you can get what they call "triple your minutes". With these plans, Tracfone triples the number of minutes you buy. So if you buy a 400 Minute, One year card you will have one year to use 1,200 minutes. The costs for this card is $99.99, so you could have cell phone service for an entire year for $100.00! Pretty hard to beat! Plus, you can often find promo codes on Tracfone's website offering even more minutes. For example, they are currently offering 250 bonus minutes on the card mentioned above which would mean you would have 1,450 minutes for the year.
Tracfone's slogan is "The Cell Phone that Puts You in Control" and that is true. If you find you need more minutes, just add a few...plus the unused minutes roll over. You just need to be sure to add minutes to your phone before your current plan ends.
But I need a Smartphone! No worries, Tracfone recently came out with two new smartphones for their service. The Samsung Galaxy Centura and the ZTE Valet
Technology can make our lives easier and cut our expenses too! Embrace it!
Samsung Galaxy Centura Android Phone
Tracfone customers now finally have the opportunity to own and use a true SmartPhone using the Tracfone service.
The Samsung Galaxy Centura
The phone was officially launched on the home shopping channel, HSN.
Initial reviews showed confusion and frustration with activation and transferring of minutes from other Tracfones.
Plans for the new smartphone are different from previous Tracfone plans to accommodate the Smartphone aspects of the handset.
In most cases the Samsung Galaxy Centura comes with Tracfone's "Triple Minutes for Life" feature. This means when you purchase airtime cards your minutes will automatically triple. Plus, the new plan also offers the corresponding number of text messages and data.
For Example - If you purchase a 400 Minute Card, your account will reflect the following.
Samsung Galaxy Centura Specs.
Activating the phone seemed to work best online as opposed to calling Tracfone Customer Service.
This being the first Android Smartphone for Tracfone, there were some hiccups in the activation process. The problem seems to have gotten better.
The Samsung Galaxy Centura is a great entry level Smartphone that many Tracfone customers are happy to finally see. It is currently available on Amazon for $119.99
